Hyderabad, May 2: The 45th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 will take place on Sunday at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, featuring Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Both teams are eager to maintain their winning momentum.
SRH started the season with just one win in their first four matches. However, following improvements in their bowling attack, the ‘Orange Army’ has secured five consecutive victories. If SRH wins this match, they will rise to the top of the points table with 14 points. The return of Pat Cummins has strengthened the team.
On the other hand, KKR has had a challenging season. They lost five out of their first six matches, with one match ending in a no-result due to rain. Recently, KKR has managed to win two matches in a row, placing them eighth in the points table. In this match against SRH, KKR may see the debut of Matheesa Pathirana, a left-arm fast bowler from Sri Lanka known for his unique bowling action.
Historically, KKR and SRH have faced each other in 31 IPL matches, with KKR winning 19 and SRH claiming victory in 11. One match ended in a tie.
