
Mumbai, April 23: In the 23rd match of IPL 2026, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) faced off against Mumbai Indians (MI) on Thursday. Batting first at Wankhede Stadium, CSK posted a formidable total of 207 runs, losing 6 wickets in their 20 overs.
CSK’s innings did not start well after losing the toss. Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad continued his poor form, scoring just 22 runs off 14 balls before being dismissed. Sarfaraz Khan, batting at number three, managed 14 runs off 8 balls before being clean bowled by Mitchell Santner. Shivam Dube also struggled, contributing only 5 runs.
Dewald Brevis began with promise but fell victim to Ashwani Kumar after scoring 21 runs, which included 1 four and 2 sixes off 11 balls. Kartik Sharma faced 19 balls, scoring 18 runs, while Jamie Overton added 15 runs off 7 balls before getting out. However, Sanju Samson anchored the innings, delivering an outstanding performance with an unbeaten century.
Samson faced 54 balls, scoring 101 runs, featuring 10 fours and 6 sixes. On the bowling front, MI’s Allah Gajnafar and Ashwani Kumar each took 2 wickets, while Jasprit Bumrah and Santner claimed 1 wicket apiece.
