IPL 2026: RCBs Hidden Match Winner Poses a Challenge for Batsmen

New Delhi, April 28: The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) continue their impressive journey in IPL 2026 after breaking an 18-year drought by winning the IPL trophy last season. While RCB boasts numerous match-winners, one bowler has emerged as a consistent hidden gem for the team: SuYash Sharma. His spinning deliveries have become a perplexing puzzle for batsmen.

SuYash Sharma’s contributions with the ball may not be evident in his statistics, but his impact on the team’s success has been significant. In IPL 2025, he took 8 wickets in 14 matches, with an economy rate of 8.84. His ability to restrict runs during the middle overs put immense pressure on opposing batsmen.

This economical bowling benefited other bowlers as well. RCB captain Rajat Patidar frequently turned to SuYash to break partnerships, and he consistently delivered on the captain’s expectations last season. SuYash is replicating that same role in IPL 2026.

In just 7 matches this season, SuYash has already claimed 6 wickets, maintaining an impressive economy rate of 7.84. In contrast, renowned spinners like Yuzvendra Chahal, Rashid Khan, and Ravi Bishnoi have higher economy rates of 9.76, 8.79, and 9.54, respectively. This highlights the struggles faced by spinners in IPL 2026, making SuYash’s performance commendable.

In the match against Delhi Capitals on April 27, 2026, SuYash bowled 4 overs, conceding only 7 runs and taking 1 wicket. Remarkably, he delivered 20 dot balls out of 24, becoming the first spinner in IPL history to achieve this feat in a single spell. Previously, only Deepak Chahar had accomplished this, doing so in 2019 while playing for Chennai Super Kings against Kolkata Knight Riders.

For the second consecutive season, SuYash has proven to be an enigma for batsmen. His ability to control runs in the middle overs is becoming a key to RCB’s victories. Although his contributions may not always be highlighted, he has consistently been a trump card for the team in nearly every match.
