
Kolkata, April 3: The sixth match of IPL 2026 took place at Eden Gardens, featuring Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Batting first, KKR scored 226 runs, losing 8 wickets in their 20 overs. This total marks KKR’s third highest score against SRH in this league.
In 2025, SRH had set their record against KKR, scoring 278 runs while losing just 3 wickets. Additionally, in 2023, SRH achieved their second highest score against KKR, amassing 228 runs while losing 4 wickets.
After losing the toss, SRH opened their innings with a strong partnership between Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head. They put on 82 runs for the first wicket in just 5.4 overs. Abhishek played a blistering knock, scoring 48 runs off just 21 balls, including 4 fours and 4 sixes. Head contributed significantly as well, scoring 46 runs off 21 balls with 6 fours and 3 sixes.
However, captain Ishan Kishan struggled, managing only 14 runs off 9 balls. Aniket Verma fell cheaply, scoring just 1 run. Nevertheless, Heinrich Klassen and Nitish Kumar Reddy steadied the innings, adding 82 runs together. Nitish scored 39 runs off 24 balls, hitting 4 fours and 1 six, while Klassen made a valuable contribution of 52 runs off 35 balls. In the final overs, Harsh Dubey remained unbeaten with 9 runs off 3 balls.
For KKR, Blessing Muzarabani took the most wickets, claiming 4 for 41 runs. Despite his efforts, he was expensive. Muzarabani delivered the second-best bowling spell for KKR against SRH, while the record for the best spell remains with Prasidh Krishna, who took 4 wickets for just 30 runs in 2018.
