New Delhi, May 13: A recent report released on Wednesday estimates that India’s total merchandise exports will reach approximately $111.9 billion in the first quarter of the fiscal year 2027, reflecting a slight increase compared to the same period last year.
According to the latest quarterly export outlook report from the government-supported Export-Import Bank of India (India Exim Bank), non-oil exports are projected to be around $97.8 billion, marking a 3.5% increase from the same period last year.
Additionally, non-oil and non-gems and jewelry exports are estimated to be $90.4 billion, indicating an annual growth of nearly 3% for this quarter.
The bank noted that the growth in non-oil exports is expected to be supported by an expanding geographical reach of exports, timely government policy interventions, and targeted emergency credit assistance measures.
The report also highlighted that recently concluded trade agreements with several countries could help sustain the growth momentum in non-oil export sectors.
Moreover, potential improvements in global demand and favorable changes in exchange rates could further benefit India’s export outlook.
However, the bank cautioned that risks such as global economic uncertainty, geopolitical conflicts, and volatility in international commodity markets still persist.
It is noteworthy that India Exim Bank releases quarterly estimates of merchandise exports, non-oil exports, and non-oil and non-gems and jewelry exports through its in-house Export Leading Index (ELI) model. This model is designed to assess domestic and global factors to estimate the direction and potential performance of India’s exports on a quarterly basis.
The bank indicated that the next export forecast for the July-September quarter of FY2027 will be released in the first fortnight of August 2026.
