New Delhi, May 8: The Indian Under-17 girls’ boxing team has continued its impressive performance at the Asian Boxing Under-15 and Under-17 Championship 2026. On Thursday, in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, they secured a remarkable 12 medals, showcasing their strong presence on the continental stage.
Rakhi (46 kg) delivered a disciplined performance, winning 5-0 against Chinese Taipei. Khushi (48 kg) demonstrated her aggressive intent by winning in the first round via RSC (Referee Stops Contest) against her Korean opponent. Mamta (52 kg) added to the tally with a powerful RSC victory in the second round against Jordan.
In other standout performances, Lakshmi (54 kg) claimed victory over Mongolia in the third round via RSC, while Navya (57 kg) triumphed 5-0 against her Chinese rival. Ishika (60 kg) continued the winning streak with an RSC win in the second round against Mongolia.
The Indian team maintained its momentum with consistent victories in subsequent matches. Harnoor (66 kg) and Himanshi (70 kg) both achieved RSC wins in the first round against Chinese Taipei, while Jyoti (75 kg) advanced to the next round after her Turkmenistan opponent was disqualified. Gursirat (80+ kg) capped off the day with a solid 4-0 victory over Kazakhstan.
The only setback of the day came when Ovi (50 kg) faced a tough match but narrowly lost 2-3 to her Uzbek opponent. In the boys’ category, Narendra Kumar Nela (44–46 kg) impressed everyone with an RSC win, further bolstering India’s strong performance across various categories.
With 12 medals secured and a series of impressive RSC victories, the Indian team continues to demonstrate its depth and emerging talent on the Asian stage.
