Indian Players Shine at Baoji China Masters 2026

Baoji, May 12: The Baoji China Masters 2026 kicked off on Tuesday, showcasing promising performances from Indian players. Maisnam Luwang Meraba and Tushar Suveer secured victories, while Dhruv Negi faced an early exit. This BWF World Tour Super 100 event features a prize pool of $120,000 and is being held at the Baoji Gymnasium.

Maisnam Luwang Meraba triumphed over Malaysia’s Irfan Majid Hajibegi with a score of 21-14, 21-14. He is set to compete against Taiwan’s Huang Ping-Hsien in the Round of 16 on Wednesday.

Tushar Suveer also advanced, defeating Taiwan’s Chang Han-Sai 21-17, 21-9. His next match will be against Indonesia’s third-seeded Ritchie Duta Richardo. Dhruv Negi was the third Indian to take the court but was eliminated after a one-sided match against China’s Sun Chao, losing 13-21, 8-21.

In the Round of 32, other Indian players included Manraj Singh, who received a bye and will face Japan’s Toma Noda in the Round of 16. Jin Paul Sona also received a bye in the first round. In other first-round matches, Nicholas Raj will challenge Taiwan’s Yi Liu on Wednesday.

In women’s singles, top seed Rakshita Sri Santosh Ramraj will clash with her compatriot Shreya Lele in the first round. Meanwhile, seventh-seeded Ashmita Chaliha will compete against Japan’s Sakura Masuki.

Third-seeded Shriyanshi Valisetti is set to play against Taiwan’s Han Tu-Chen, while Madhavi Nagar will face Indonesia’s sixth-seeded Mutiyara Puspitasari. Mansi Singh will take on China’s Yuan En Que, and second-seeded Tanya Hemant, currently ranked 54th in the world, will compete against Tonerug Saeheng in this event.

This tournament, organized by the Chinese Badminton Association and recognized by the BWF, is the third edition of the Baoji China Masters and the 11th tournament of the 2026 BWF World Tour.
