Ayodhya, February 23: Indian Muslim leaders have voiced their opposition to the Taliban government’s new laws concerning women in Afghanistan. They criticized the Taliban for enacting laws without any constructive purpose, stating that violence should not be tolerated anywhere.
Iqbal Ansari, a key figure in the Ayodhya dispute, remarked, “These are all unjust laws. Those who have no work create unnecessary laws. Violence should not exist anywhere. Justice must prevail for everyone. Where there is violence, it must be curtailed.”
He added, “Regardless of religion or community, violence is unacceptable in society. People create laws around violence, and the Taliban has done the same. We do not condone violence, as we are Muslims and adhere to our faith. There should be harmony among people. When relationships are good, violence will diminish. Religious leaders should promote unity; there is no law for violence.”
Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi Bareilvi, head of the All India Muslim Jamaat, also opposed the Taliban’s laws. He stated, “The recent decree regarding the treatment of husbands, children, and wives is fundamentally based on violence.”
He further commented, “The Taliban has returned to power in Afghanistan for the second time. Their image has always been associated with terror. We have never recognized the Taliban and have consistently viewed them as involved in terrorist activities.”
Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi Bareilvi noted, “When the Taliban took control, they made several changes. When they announced that Afghanistan would not be used against India, our tone softened slightly. Now, while the Taliban aims to lead Afghanistan towards development, they periodically demonstrate their harshness.”
