Itanagar, February 9: The Indian Army has launched ‘Mission Krishiveer’ in East Siang district, Arunachal Pradesh, to strengthen the farm-to-force linkage. This initiative was announced on Monday by defense spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mahendra Rawat. The Spear Corps, in collaboration with the Army Service Corps, initiated this program at the Sigar Military Station.
Local MLA Oken Tayeng, senior army officials, representatives from civil administration, and local farmers attended the event. The mission aims to establish a systematic supply chain that connects local farmers directly with army units stationed in the region.
The primary goal of this project is to ensure the supply of fresh, high-quality agricultural produce to soldiers while also enhancing income opportunities for farmers in Arunachal Pradesh. By eliminating intermediaries, ‘Mission Krishiveer’ seeks to create a transparent, efficient, and sustainable procurement system that benefits both the armed forces and the local farming community.
This initiative is expected to strengthen logistics along the border, improve supply chain efficiency in remote areas, and contribute to regional food security. During the assembly, MLA Oken Tayeng praised this collaborative effort between the Indian Army and local stakeholders, stating that it would significantly boost farmers’ livelihoods and strengthen cooperation between civil administration and the armed forces.
Senior army officials noted that ‘Mission Krishiveer’ aligns with a broader vision of national participation in self-reliance and development. By integrating local agricultural capacity with military logistics needs, the initiative supports the objectives of a self-reliant Arunachal.
