Nagoya, September 22 (Daily Kiran) : The Indian shooting duo of Elavenil Valarivan and Parth Rakesh Mane finished fourth in the 10-meter air rifle mixed team event at the 2026 Asian Games held in Nagoya on September 22. Their total score of 376.3 points left them just shy of the podium, missing out on a medal in a fiercely competitive final.
The gold medal was claimed by China’s Wang Jifi and Sheng Lihao, who set a world record with a score of 507.1. South Korea’s Hyojin Ban and Hajun Park secured the silver medal with a score of 502.9, while Japan’s Misaki Nobata and Naoki Hanakawa took home the bronze with a score of 439.7.
Elavenil and Parth had qualified for the finals by finishing second in the qualification round, scoring a total of 634.6. The Chinese team topped the qualifications with a world record total of 638.9, while South Korea followed closely in third place with 633.2.
Both athletes had previously contributed to India’s success in the shooting events, with Elavenil also winning a silver medal in the women’s 10-meter air rifle competition. The Indian shooting team has now secured five medals at the 2026 Asian Games, including four silvers and one bronze.
Earlier in the competition, Elavenil and the women’s team won silver medals on the first day of shooting events. On Monday, Himanshu Dhiillon made a remarkable debut, winning silver in the men’s 10-meter air rifle event, while Rudraksh Patil joined him on the podium with a bronze medal.
The Indian men’s team, consisting of Himanshu, Rudraksh, and Parth, also won silver in the men’s 10-meter air rifle team event. Additionally, in mixed martial arts, Suchika earned the country’s first bronze medal in that discipline, despite facing defeat in the semifinals.
