India Celebrates as Team Reaches T20 World Cup Semifinals

New Delhi, March 2: Team India secured its spot in the semifinals of the T20 World Cup 2026 by defeating the West Indies by five wickets on Sunday. Chasing a target of 196 runs, the Indian team achieved victory in just 19.2 overs, losing five wickets in the process. The entire nation is celebrating this achievement, with fans expressing their joy over the team’s performance. Former president of the Bengal Cricket Association, Snehasish Ganguly, praised Sanju Samson’s outstanding innings.

Ganguly remarked that it was an impressive match and commended the Indian team’s remarkable performance. He noted that chasing down a target of 196 runs is no easy feat. However, Sanju Samson played a pivotal role with his explosive innings.

In Maharashtra, fans were visibly thrilled with India’s advancement to the semifinals. They lauded Sanju Samson’s unbeaten score of 97 runs. One fan predicted that the Indian team would reach the finals and face South Africa in the championship match. Another fan advised the team to improve their bowling attack.

In Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, people celebrated India’s victory by playing music and dancing. Fans were seen applying gulal on each other, celebrating Holi just two days prior.

Following the crucial match against the West Indies, TMC MLA Babul Supriyo stated, “I believe this was the kind of match we all anticipated and enjoyed watching. Everything ended well. The West Indies set a high total, and there were some tense moments. India was a bit lucky after missing a few catches, but in the end, it was a one-man show. Sanju Samson’s performance was absolutely fantastic.”

Fans who attended the match at Eden Gardens expressed their excitement, saying, “India played exceptionally well today. This match felt like a semifinal. We will win the finals too.”

In Patna, celebrations erupted on the streets with chants of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “India-India.” Fans are hopeful that India will once again claim the World Cup title. Naushad Alam commented, “Players should take a cue from Samson. India will undoubtedly win this World Cup. We expect another stellar performance from them in the semifinals.”

Sanju Samson delivered a remarkable batting display against the West Indies, scoring an unbeaten 97 runs off 50 balls. With his powerful innings, Team India successfully chased down the target of 196 runs in 19.2 overs. The Indian team’s semifinal clash is set for March 5 against England.
