India Block to Protest Against Election Commissioner in Bengaluru on November 5

The India Block plans a major protest in Bengaluru on November 5 against alleged irregularities in the electoral process.

Bengaluru, November 3 (Daily Kiran) : A significant protest is set to take place in Bengaluru on November 5, organized by the India Block coalition in Karnataka. The demonstration will target alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists and call for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. B.K. Hariprasad, president of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), announced the event during a press conference on Tuesday.

This protest follows a similar demonstration held on November 1 at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi, where the coalition raised concerns over the SIR process and criticized Kumar’s leadership. Hariprasad noted that the India Block leaders have decided to expand their protests across the country at the taluka and block levels, starting with this state-level event in Bengaluru.

Hariprasad accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) of undermining democratic institutions. He emphasized that the movement will persist until Kumar resigns. K. Prakash, the state secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), reiterated the coalition’s demands for the cancellation of the SIR process, Kumar’s resignation, and the democratization of the appointment process for the Chief Election Commissioner.

Prakash insisted that the appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner should adhere to the Supreme Court‘s directives and called for the repeal of laws that grant permanent immunity to the position. Following the November 5 protest, the India Block aims to intensify its campaign across Karnataka, reaching district and local levels. He stressed that all coalition members share the responsibility to protect democracy.

The press conference also featured remarks from CPI (M) leader Sathi Sundarais, Forward Bloc representatives Mahantesh and Shivshankar, CPI (ML) leader Clifton D’Rosario, and KPCC media and communication head Ramesh Babu, all expressing solidarity with the cause. The India Block seeks to send a clear message that there is no place in India for the BJP’s alleged attempts to transform the nation into a dictatorship and a communal state.
