
New Delhi, May 19: The Indian cricket team has been announced for the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) revealed the squad on Tuesday. Notably, three players who showcased their talents in IPL 2026 have been given their first opportunity in the ODI format. These players are Prince Yadav, Gurnoor Barar, and Harsh Dubey. Let’s take a closer look at their List A cricket records.
Prince Yadav: The right-arm fast bowler, who plays for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in IPL 2026, has made a significant impact with his performances. Many renowned batsmen have struggled against his deliveries. As of now, Prince has taken 16 wickets in 12 matches during IPL 2026, prior to the match against Rajasthan Royals on Tuesday.
In a recent interview, Prince expressed his ambition to play in the 2027 ODI World Cup. He spoke about the desire to win the World Cup alongside stars like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. His dream is now taking shape as he earns his first call-up for the ODI series against Afghanistan. Playing domestic cricket for Delhi, Prince has claimed 29 wickets in 14 List A matches.
Gurnoor Barar: Another promising talent, Gurnoor Barar, a right-arm fast bowler for Punjab Kings in IPL 2026, has also been included in the ODI squad. Although he has only played one match this season without taking a wicket, he has recorded 12 wickets in 9 List A matches while playing domestic cricket for Punjab.
Harsh Dubey: The third player making his debut in the ODI team is Harsh Dubey, an all-rounder. Currently playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2026, this left-handed bowler and batsman has taken 8 wickets in 8 matches. Harsh plays domestic cricket for Vidarbha and has taken 31 wickets in 30 List A matches, scoring 296 runs with two half-centuries in 17 innings. At just 23 years old, he is a valuable option for both bowling and lower-order batting.
The ODI series between India and Afghanistan is scheduled for June 14, 17, and 20.
