Immediate Relief for Farmers Affected by Unseasonal Rain and Hail in Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow, April 8: The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, has expressed deep concern for farmers affected by unseasonal rain, hailstorms, and incidents of arson. During a high-level review meeting held on Wednesday morning, he directed officials to take prompt, transparent, and sensitive action regarding the damage to Rabi crops. The Chief Minister acknowledged that it is natural for farmers to feel anxious in such adverse conditions and assured that the state government stands firmly with them.

He instructed that a precise, fair, and timely assessment of losses for each affected farmer and sharecropper be conducted, ensuring immediate compensation. The Chief Minister emphasized the need for effective coordination among revenue, agriculture, and other related departments at the district level to expedite surveys and submit reports to the government, preventing any delays in relief distribution.

Additionally, he directed officials to establish active coordination with insurance companies for the swift settlement of crop insurance claims. He urged officials to personally contact farmers to ensure they benefit from insurance schemes, maximizing the relief available.

The Chief Minister instructed the revenue department to immediately allocate sufficient funds from the state disaster relief fund to each district. District magistrates must ensure that affected farmers receive assistance promptly and transparently. Relief camps should be set up where necessary, and support should also be provided to farmers through market committees.

In light of the incidents of arson, the Chief Minister stressed the importance of sensitivity, directing that relief funds be made available within 24 hours in cases of loss of life or livestock. Furthermore, eligible beneficiaries should be quickly enrolled in the farmer accident insurance scheme. He also instructed that families whose homes have been damaged or destroyed should be prioritized for housing under the Chief Minister’s Housing Scheme.

The Chief Minister warned that any negligence in relief and rehabilitation efforts would be unacceptable, and accountability for related officials would be enforced. He reiterated that the state government is fully committed to standing with every farmer, farming family, and sharecropper during this crisis, making it a top priority to provide all possible assistance.
