It said that the reason on Saturday was due to the thunderstorm activity and formation of cumulonimbus clouds over the state and that a low pressure area of developing in the Bay of Bengal.
The city recorded 44.5mm rain till 10 pm last night. Highest rainfall was recorded at Uppal at 153mm.
