Dubai, May 6: The ICC has released the latest T20 rankings. Indian explosive opener Abhishek Sharma remains at the top of the batting rankings. Players from Bangladesh have gained an advantage in the recent rankings.
Despite not playing any international T20 matches since March 9, Abhishek Sharma holds the first position. Ishan Kishan is in second place, followed by Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan in third. England’s Phil Salt ranks fourth, Sri Lanka’s Pathum Nissanka is fifth, India’s Tilak Varma is sixth, and India’s captain Suryakumar Yadav is seventh. England’s Jos Buttler is eighth, South Africa’s Dewald Brevis is ninth, and Zimbabwe’s Brian Bennett rounds out the top ten.
In the bowling rankings, Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan is first, followed by India’s Varun Chakravarthy in second. Pakistan’s Abrar Ahmed is third, England’s Adil Rashid is fourth, and India’s Jasprit Bumrah is fifth. Australia’s Adam Zampa is sixth, South Africa’s Corbin Bosch is seventh, West Indies’ Matthew Ford is eighth, Afghanistan’s Mujeeb Ur Rahman is ninth, and Australia’s Nathan Ellis completes the top ten.
Currently, IPL 2026 is underway, while the Pakistan Super League (PSL) has been played during this period. International series are rare during the IPL season.
Recently, New Zealand’s B team played three T20 matches in Bangladesh, resulting in a drawn series. This has benefitted Bangladeshi players in both batting and bowling rankings.
Player of the Series, Bangladesh’s Towhid Hridoy, has climbed to 37th in the batting rankings.
In bowling, Bangladesh’s Mehidy Hasan has moved up one spot to 17th, while Shoriful Islam made a significant leap of nine places to reach 54th.
New Zealand’s Ben Sears has risen ten spots to 51st, and Ish Sodhi has climbed four places to 88th. Sodhi has also become New Zealand’s leading wicket-taker in the shortest format, surpassing Tim Southee with 165 wickets.
