New Delhi, May 7: American tech giant IBM and Indian company Yotta Data Services announced plans on Thursday to develop a cloud-based agentic AI platform for businesses and government organizations in India.
According to an official statement, this platform will be built using IBM Watsonx Orchestrate and deployed on Yotta’s Shakti Cloud. The aim is to significantly enhance the use of AI in organizations while addressing data residency, security, and regulatory compliance needs.
The proposed platform will empower organizations to deploy and manage AI agents across various sectors, including IT service management, human resources, finance, procurement, and customer support.
Sandeep Patel, Managing Director of IBM India and South Asia, stated, “Indian companies are now focusing on implementing AI in a secure, controlled manner that meets regulatory expectations. This partnership will combine IBM’s AI capabilities with Yotta’s indigenous cloud infrastructure, helping organizations responsibly scale AI.”
The statement highlighted that companies are moving beyond the experimental phase of AI to its practical application in operations. Consequently, there is a growing demand for platforms that can systematically manage and control AI-based processes in business operations.
IBM Sovereign Core will also be hosted on Yotta’s Shakti Cloud, enabling organizations to create and operate an AI-ready indigenous digital environment. This system will provide continuous compliance monitoring, verifiable controls, and regulated AI operations concerning data, operations, technology, and AI processes.
The collaboration aims to provide a robust foundation for Indian organizations to implement agentic AI at scale, ensuring the use of AI technology without compromising compliance and control.
Deployed on a framework recognized by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), IBM Sovereign Core will offer an indigenous digital environment that meets the country’s regulatory requirements. This will assist companies and government organizations in adhering to data residency regulations, maintaining audit-ready compliance records, and operating AI workloads within defined boundaries.
