Chandigarh, March 9: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini participated in the grand Hola Mohalla celebration at the Namdhari Gurudwara in Sirsa district on Sunday. He sought blessings from the saint community during the event.
Addressing a large gathering, Saini expressed his joy at being part of the prestigious Hola Mohalla festival celebrated at this sacred ashram. He paid homage to Saint Dilip Singh Maharaj, acknowledging the saint community’s significant role in uniting society through love, service, brotherhood, and spirituality.
The Chief Minister highlighted that Sirsa has long been a land of saints and great personalities. He noted that the first Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak, set foot on this land in 1507, leading to the establishment of Gurudwara Shri Chilla Sahib to propagate his teachings.
Saini mentioned that many saints, including Baba Sarasai Nath and Baba Bhuman Shah, have spread messages of spirituality, service, and humanity from this land. Their teachings continue to guide society today.
He emphasized that Hola Mohalla is not just a festival but a vibrant symbol of India’s rich culture, valor, and spiritual heritage. It inspires people to maintain a balance between courage and devotion in their lives.
The Chief Minister remarked that this festival represents a commitment to stand against injustice and protect one’s faith. He explained that Guru Gobind Singh Ji initiated the tradition of celebrating Hola Mohalla alongside Holi to strengthen Khalsa traditions and promote brotherhood and unity in society.
Saini acknowledged the Namdhari community’s history, filled with sacrifice, penance, and dedication. He noted that the Kooka movement, started by Satguru Ram Singh Maharaj, is a significant chapter in India’s freedom struggle.
He also paid tribute to the Namdhari martyrs who stood firm against British cannons in Malerkotla. These brave souls sacrificed their lives with smiles, never straying from the path of truth and self-respect.
