Historic Day for BJP Supporters in Bengal, Says Home Minister Shah

Bengaluru, May 9: Union Home Minister Amit Shah highlighted the political success of the BJP in West Bengal on Saturday, declaring the day historic for those who believe in the party’s ideology. He stated that the saffron flag now waves in the land of great personalities like Sri Aurobindo, Swami Vivekananda, Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, and Syama Prasad Mukherjee.

Shah was addressing the ‘Abhimanotsav’ event held in Chitradurga, Central Karnataka, to commemorate the 50 years of public service by former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa. He noted that this celebration coincided with the swearing-in of the BJP government in West Bengal.

“This is a historic day for those who respect Mother India and dedicate their lives to our ideology. The saffron flag now flies in the land of great personalities,” Shah remarked.

He added, “When the date for this honor ceremony was set, we had no idea it would coincide with the swearing-in of the BJP Chief Minister in West Bengal. Today, while the BJP government is being formed in Bengal, we are also celebrating Yediyurappa’s 50 years in political and public life.”

Shah praised Yediyurappa’s humility and simplicity, emphasizing that despite holding high positions, he has always remained grounded.

“Yediyurappa has always been humble. His speech was scheduled before mine, but I insisted that today is his day, so he should speak after me, and I will listen to his entire address,” Shah said.

Sharing personal experiences, the Home Minister mentioned that he has campaigned with Yediyurappa in three general elections and encouraged young BJP workers to learn from his discipline and dedication.

He remarked, “Yediyurappa keeps a small pocket diary where he notes the names and issues of the people he meets. We, as workers, have much to learn from him.”

Shah also acknowledged Yediyurappa’s contributions to religious institutions and memorials dedicated to martyrs.

He concluded, “Only a person who truly loves society and aims to uplift it can accomplish such work.”

The Home Minister emphasized Yediyurappa’s significant role in giving Bengaluru a global identity and maintaining communal harmony in Karnataka.
