Udaipur, June 27, 2026 (Daily Kiran): Hindustan Zinc Limited, the world’s largest integrated zinc producer and among the top 10 silver producers globally, is strengthening education in rural Rajasthan through its flagship CSR initiative, Shiksha Sambal. Since 2018, the programme has benefited more than 47,000 students across 76 schools by providing continuous academic support with a special focus on Science, Mathematics and English.
To promote practical learning and future-ready skills, the company recently organised its ninth Summer Camp, which benefited more than 1,600 students. The camp exposed participants to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), digital technologies, innovation, arts, sports and other learning activities. Volunteers from institutions including University of Delhi and Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Pune, along with company employees and local community members, contributed to the initiative.
To ensure continued learning during summer vacations, one-month residential and non-residential camps were organised under the Shiksha Sambal programme across the districts of Ajmer, Bhilwara, Chittorgarh, Rajsamand, Salumber and Udaipur.
Sharing his experience, student Bhavesh Menaria said that before attending the camp, he had only read about STEM subjects and digital tools. Through practical projects, he gained a better understanding of how technology can help solve real-life problems.
The initiative aims to equip students with essential skills, confidence and broader perspectives. Through Shiksha Sambal, students are being connected with STEM education, digital literacy, leadership development and career guidance opportunities.
Student Preeti Rao said the camp helped improve her communication, problem-solving and digital skills while motivating her to learn new things and move forward with confidence.
Over the years, Shiksha Sambal has emerged as a significant contributor to educational improvement in rural Rajasthan. Its impact was reflected in the academic results of 2026, where students achieved a pass percentage of 92.53 percent in Class 10 and 99.43 percent in Class 12 examinations.
While Rajasthan’s average examination result over the past decade has been around 67.66 percent, 37 of the 76 schools associated with the programme recorded a 100 percent pass result. Overall performance levels under the initiative have now reached nearly 96 percent.
Student Hanshika Verma said the programme provided support in subjects where she previously faced difficulties, while the guidance and study materials helped strengthen her confidence.
Mohit Meena from Udaipur, who is currently studying at IISER Pune, said Shiksha Sambal helped build a strong academic foundation that enabled him to pursue higher education at a reputed institution.
