Udaipur, May 22, 2026 (Daily Kiran): Hindustan Zinc Limited has shared details of its environmental and animal welfare initiatives on the occasion of International Day for Biological Diversity. Under the company’s Samadhan community programme, more than 4.1 lakh livestock and wildlife animals across Rajasthan have benefited from various conservation and welfare activities.

The company is working on animal treatment, water arrangements for animals, environmental improvement, and scientific wildlife conservation in villages around its operational areas. As part of these efforts, restoration work has been started at the 369-hectare Baghdara Crocodile Conservation Reserve in Udaipur to create a safer habitat for wildlife.
For the past 10 years, the company has been organising animal health camps in nearby villages to promote livestock health and rural livelihoods. Under the Samadhan project, livestock owners are provided free treatment, vaccination, and awareness support. The initiative also helps farmers learn modern and safe farming practices.
During the summer season, water tanks and containers are being placed in villages for animals. Reflective collars are also being tied around stray animals to help prevent road accidents at night by making them visible in vehicle headlights.
Arun Misra, CEO of Hindustan Zinc, said that protecting the environment and caring for animals is not just a responsibility but an essential part of the company’s work. He said the company is continuously working towards nature conservation and rural development while following global standards for sustainable growth.
The company has also signed an MoU worth Rs 5 crore with the Government of Rajasthan for the development of the Baghdara Crocodile Reserve. Under the project, plantation work, check dams, ponds, walking paths, and seating arrangements for visitors are being developed. Once completed, the reserve is expected to provide a safe habitat for crocodiles and more than 200 species of birds.
Hindustan Zinc is also working with the International Union for Conservation of Nature on biodiversity conservation initiatives. The company said it is committed to its “No Net Loss” goal through plantation and environmental protection measures.
