The announcement was made during ‘Jinnovation 2026’, a large-scale innovation platform that brought together global technology companies, industrial leaders and emerging startups to accelerate AI adoption in industrial operations.

During the event, Hindustan Zinc held discussions with major global technology companies including Microsoft, Google, Siemens, ABB, Sandvik and XCMG. Several memorandums of understanding (MoUs) were also signed with startups working in robotics, asset management and data analytics.

The initiative is expected to improve productivity, optimise costs, increase asset reliability, enhance energy efficiency and strengthen workplace safety across the company’s mines and smelters. It will also focus on improving recovery rates and enabling faster decision-making through AI-powered systems.

According to the organisers, India’s manufacturing sector contributes nearly 17 percent to the country’s GDP but still lags behind in adopting advanced digital technologies. Jinnovation 2026 was designed to bridge this gap by taking technology beyond proof-of-concept stages and implementing it at industrial scale.

The programme also reinforced Hindustan Zinc’s venture-client approach, where new technologies are rapidly piloted, validated and scaled to create measurable business impact.

MoUs were signed with companies including XCMG, Sandvik, STL Digital and AVEVA. V-Spark also partnered with startups such as Beta Tanks Robotics, Symboticware AI, Kernelly, Uncharted Technologies, Infinite Uptime, Intellisense.io and Flutura for detailed technical evaluations and pilot projects.

Chairperson Priya Agarwal Hebbar said the future of manufacturing will be defined by the ability to scale with intelligence. She stated that Hindustan Zinc is integrating technology into the core of its operations to build a modern metals enterprise focused on safety, sustainability and innovation.

The discussions during the event focused on high-impact AI applications including predictive maintenance, digital twins, connected operations, autonomous systems, computer vision, industrial data platforms, robotic applications and real-time decision intelligence.

Akarsh Hebbar, Chairman of V-Spark Deeptech Ventures and President of the Vedanta Group, said the next phase of industrial leadership will be driven by AI and collaborative innovation ecosystems. He added that the platform is helping startups and technology leaders solve large-scale industrial challenges and accelerate future-ready operations.

The company also showcased its digital mining and smelting capabilities, including tele-remote operations, advanced winder simulators and virtual operational demonstrations.

At present, Hindustan Zinc said it is working on more than 100 projects with over 50 startups through the V-Spark platform to improve production efficiency and reduce operational costs.
