June 28, 2025 | Udaipur: In a proud moment for corporate social responsibility in India, Hindustan Zinc Limited (HZL)—the country’s largest and the world’s second-largest integrated zinc producer—was conferred six awards at the 29th Bhamashah Samman ceremony, held in Rajasthan. The company received accolades for its remarkable and sustained contributions to quality education, particularly in rural and tribal regions of the state.
The awards were presented to Hindustan Zinc’s units—Rampura Agucha Mine, Chanderiya Lead Zinc Smelter, Zawar Mines, Rajpura Dariba Complex, Zinc Smelter Debari, and Kayad Mine—in recognition of their long-standing impact on educational development. While five units received the “Shiksha Vibhushan”, Kayad Mine was honoured with the “Shiksha Bhushan” for its positive role in advancing education.
🎓 A Decade of Educational Impact
This marks the 10th consecutive year that Hindustan Zinc has been recognized by the Rajasthan government for its transformational education initiatives. Since 2017, the company has invested over ₹430 crore in various educational interventions under its CSR programmes, impacting over 2 lakh students every year.

₹80 crore spent on infrastructure improvements: classrooms, toilets, playgrounds, drinking water, and electrification
₹350 crore invested in long-term educational programmes such as:
Nand Ghar (modern Anganwadis)
Shiksha Sambal (supplemental learning for rural children)
Jeevan Tarang (inclusive education for children with special needs)
Unchi Udaan (higher education coaching for rural girls)
Support to company-run schools
Recently, HZL also signed an MoU with Rajasthan’s Education Department pledging an additional ₹36 crore investment over the next five years to boost academic outcomes across the state.

Class 10 pass percentage in Rajasthan has risen from 47% (2007) to 93.6% (2025)
Girls continue to outperform boys in academic results
Notably, school enrollment among rural girls has significantly increased
