Himanta Biswa Sarma Re-elected as NDA Legislative Leader, Set to Take Oath as Chief Minister on May 12

Guwahati, May 10: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and NDA have once again placed their trust in Himanta Biswa Sarma in Assam. During a meeting of the BJP and NDA legislative parties, Sarma was unanimously elected as their leader.

This decision paves the way for him to serve as Assam’s Chief Minister for a second term. Reports indicate that Sarma will take the oath of office on May 12. The swearing-in ceremony will be held in Guwahati, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi attending as the chief guest.

BJP state president Dilip Saikia informed the media that preparations for the ceremony are in full swing. He noted that this historic moment will see the Chief Minister and 102 legislators taking their oaths in the presence of Prime Minister Modi.

To finalize the formation of the new government, the BJP assigned special responsibilities from its central leadership. Central Minister JP Nadda was appointed as the observer, while Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini was designated as co-observer. Both leaders played crucial roles in the legislative party meeting and the government formation process in Assam.

Regarding Sarma’s personal life, he was born on February 1, 1969, in Guwahati, Assam. He holds an MA and PhD in Political Science from Gauhati University and has also studied law. His wife, Riniki Bhuyan Sarma, is an entrepreneur. The couple has a son, Nandil, and a daughter, Sukanya.

Sarma’s re-election as Chief Minister has generated excitement among BJP workers and supporters, reinforcing his stronghold in Assam’s political landscape.
