In Kashmir division, South Kashmir—especially its higher reaches—is likely to be most impacted, with heavy to very heavy rainfall anticipated.
The Pir Panjal mountain range is also expected to see heavy to very heavy rainfall, increasing the risk of sudden floods and raising water levels in downstream rivers and streams. There is also a possibility of snowfall in higher areas of the region.
According to the forecast shared by Kashmir Meteorology, Central Kashmir may experience light to moderate rainfall, while North Kashmir is likely to be the least affected. The advisory strictly advises people to avoid trekking and traveling in the hills of Jammu division and South Kashmir until Wednesday.
Residents of low-lying and flood-prone areas are also advised to remain alert due to the risk of rivers and streams overflowing. The advisory further states that on Tuesday, sudden floods, falling rocks, and landslides could disrupt travel across various mountain passes.
