New Delhi, March 7 : Injured Indian student Harjot Singh was flown back to India on board an Indian Air Force C17 craft, along with 204 other students, from Poland as part of Operation Ganga. Harjot Singh, who has serious bullet injuries sustained in a firing attack in Ukraine, was transferred to an Army Hospital, after the plane landed at the Hindon Airforce Station. Minister of State VK Singh, said in a tweet: ”I am happy to inform you that we have landed at Hindon Airforce Station. All 205 Indian Students are back safe and sound. Harjot is under transfer to the Army Hospital (R&R). I thank the crew for taking care of us.#OperationGanga.” The C17 left from Rzeszow in Poland. Harjot was repatriated to India, in coordination with the Indian Embassy in Kyiv and the Red Cross Ukraine chapter, besides others who helped in the evacuation. Harjot had lost his passport.Harjot was wounded in a firing attack on his cab on February 27 while travelling towards Lviv on Ukraine’s western border, along with two other Indians.He was taken to a hospital in Kyiv.According to his accounts from the hospital bed, the car he was in came under intense firing from buildings around, and he received bullet injuries on his left knee, right thigh, and one bullet went through his arm and entered his chest. The Indian government has said it will bear the full cost of his treatment. RN
