Hyderabad, December 4 – Indian cricket team’s star all-rounder Hardik Pandya is counted among the country’s most popular cricketers. Hardik’s popularity is so immense that the venue for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match between Baroda and Gujarat had to be changed to control his fans.

Hardik Pandya is playing for Baroda in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Fans eager to meet Hardik and take selfies with him have been breaking security barriers and entering the ground during matches. Videos of such incidents from this season are circulating on social media. The desperation of fans for Hardik has become a headache for security personnel. Due to this, the venue for the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match between Baroda and Gujarat has been changed.

Initially, this match was scheduled to be held at Gymkhana Ground, but it has now been shifted to Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. This stadium regularly hosts international and IPL matches. The stadium has higher spectator capacity and stronger security arrangements.

According to an organizing committee official, “The enthusiasm for Hardik Pandya is tremendous. The crowd of fans, inquiries, and movement of people was far beyond our expectations. Huge crowds of fans were seen near the team hotel, practice nets, and ticket counters. Such crowds are usually not seen in domestic matches. Therefore, for security reasons and to conduct the match smoothly, the decision was made to shift to Rajiv Gandhi Stadium.”

It should be noted that during the match between Punjab and Baroda, fans repeatedly entered the stadium to meet Hardik and take selfies with him. Due to this, the match had to be stopped.

In Thursday’s match against Gujarat, Baroda won by 8 wickets. After restricting Gujarat to just 70 runs, Baroda achieved the winning target in 6.4 overs with the loss of 2 wickets. With this victory, Baroda moved to the top position in Group C.
