
Jamshedpur, April 7: In a shocking incident on Tuesday, gunmen on a scooter opened fire at the residence of BJP leader Sapan Das in the Adityapur suburb of Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. The attack has sent shockwaves throughout the area. Das’s home is located in the Saraiyketta-Kharsawan district’s Saldih locality.
Witnesses reported that the assailants arrived on a scooter and targeted the windows of the BJP leader’s house while firing indiscriminately. During the shooting, they also hurled abuses before fleeing the scene.
Local sources have identified the attackers as notorious criminals Raju, also known as ‘Takla’, and Chandan. The entire incident was captured on nearby CCTV cameras. Following the attack, there has been significant outrage among local representatives and BJP workers.
Residents have accused the police of inaction, stating that these same criminals attempted violent acts in the area just three days prior, on April 4. They argue that the lack of decisive police action has emboldened the criminals.
In light of the seriousness of the situation, Inspector Vinod Tirkey of the Adityapur police station confirmed that the police have inspected the crime scene and are conducting a thorough investigation. He stated that the suspects have been identified and raids are underway to apprehend them. The shooting has left the Saldih locality in a state of tension.
Local residents are demanding increased police patrols and strict legal action against the identified criminals. The police are currently raiding potential hideouts based on the CCTV footage.
