Gujarats Deputy CM Leads Flag March in Anand with Over 10,000 Participants

Anand, August 14: On Friday, more than 10,000 people participated in a flag march in Anand and Vallabh Vidyanagar. This event was organized by the district administration and the Karmasad-Anand Municipal Corporation as part of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign ahead of India’s 80th Independence Day.
Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi flagged off the march from Shastri Maidan in Vallabh Vidyanagar. He joined ministers, elected representatives, officials, students, police personnel, NCC cadets, athletes, home guards, TRB staff, and local citizens in the procession.
This event is part of a series of flag marches taking place across Gujarat in anticipation of Independence Day. The procession passed through Vidyanagar Shaheed Chowk and the statue of Bhai Kaka, concluding at the Anand Town Hall via Vidyanagar Road.
Participants waved flags and chanted slogans like ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘Vande Mataram.’ Sanghvi congratulated the people of Anand district for their participation and wished them well for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations.
The march commenced with a patriotic dance performance by students dressed in special attire. Later, students from schools and colleges, along with NCC cadets—including members from the NCC Gujarat Battalion and NCC Girls Battalion—young athletes, and others joined the procession.
The police contingent featured motorcycle riders carrying the flag, mounted police, a police band, female constables, and other personnel. Home guards, TRB, and village protection team members also participated.
The municipal corporation adorned buildings along Vidyanagar Road with flags. Decorative lights and festoons were hung on roadside poles, creating a vibrant atmosphere filled with the colors of the national flag throughout the route.
Senior officials and elected representatives walked alongside citizens rather than remaining apart. Among those present were Karmasad-Anand Municipal Corporation Mayor Deepika Patel, Deputy Mayor Kamlesh Dabi, Standing Committee Chairman Mayur Suthar, Anand District Collector Praveen Chaudhary, Municipal Commissioner R.N. Dodia, and various other officials and college students.
This march in Anand is part of a larger state-level initiative, with plans for flag marches across various regions in Gujarat. The state government previously announced that over 1,200 such marches have been approved under the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign.
The procession concluded at the Town Hall, with participants proudly displaying the national flag.
