
Gandhinagar, 23 January – In a span of 24 hours, the Gujarat Police department has been shaken by the sudden deaths of three individuals connected to the force, prompting multiple investigations.
Separate incidents in Gandhinagar and Bharuch have resulted in the deaths of two serving police personnel and one police recruitment candidate. Authorities have launched thorough inquiries into these cases.
Head Constable Found Dead in Gandhinagar
On Friday morning, a police head constable posted at Sector-7 police station in Gandhinagar was found dead at his residence. The case is being treated as a suspected suicide.
The deceased has been identified as Upendrasingh Vaghela, a resident of Pethapur. He was on medical leave and had returned home.
According to police reports, Vaghela was discovered hanging from a ceiling fan on the upper floor of his house. Family members informed the authorities immediately after the incident.
Senior police officials reached the scene promptly and sent the body for post-mortem examination at Gandhinagar Civil Hospital.
Inspector Bharat Gohil of Sector-7 police station stated that no suicide note was recovered. He told news agencies, “No concrete reason for the incident has emerged so far. An accidental death case has been registered at Pethapur police station, and the investigation is ongoing.”
Vaghela is survived by his mother, wife, and two children.
Two Deaths Reported in Bharuch
A day before the Gandhinagar incident, two deaths were reported in Bharuch. One case involved a female police constable posted at Bharuch police headquarters who was found dead at her home late Wednesday night.
The deceased has been identified as Preeti Parmar, originally from Borla village in Talaja taluka of Bhavnagar district. She had been working in the local intelligence branch in Bharuch for the past five years.
Police have stated that the cause of her death remains unclear, and orders for a post-mortem have been issued.
Recruitment Candidate Dies During Physical Test
In a separate incident during the ongoing police recruitment process in Bharuch, a 25-year-old candidate collapsed after completing a running test and later died during treatment.
The deceased has been identified as Ravirajsinh Jadeja, who was participating in the PSI recruitment process.
Police reported that after completing the third round of the run, Jadeja complained of breathing difficulties and collapsed. He received immediate medical attention and was taken to Bharuch Civil Hospital before being referred to a private hospital, where he was declared dead.
Jadeja belonged to a police family; his father serves as an Assistant Sub-Inspector in the SRP Group-1 in Vadodara.
In both Bharuch cases, accidental death reports have been filed, and investigations into the exact causes continue.
