Gandhinagar, May 1: Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel held a significant meeting with Jacqueline Mukangira, the High Commissioner of Rwanda to India, during the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference in Surat.
The discussions focused on enhancing bilateral economic cooperation between India, Gujarat, and Rwanda. Mukangira praised the success of the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference (VGRC), emphasizing Rwanda’s role as an important partner for India. She noted that active trade relations have developed between Gujarat and Rwanda due to these bilateral ties.
Mukangira highlighted that Rwanda imports products such as textiles, spices, and sugar from India. She pointed out that many Indian businesses operating in Rwanda are led by Gujaratis, which has further strengthened cultural and people-to-people connections between the two regions.
Chief Minister Patel stated that a delegation from Gujarat would visit Rwanda to explore new opportunities for mutual cooperation. He expressed gratitude for Rwanda being a partner country at the VGRC and extended an invitation to participate in the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2027.
Present at the meeting were Chief Secretary M.K. Das, Additional Chief Secretary of the Industry and Mines Department Mamta Verma, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Sanjeev Kumar, Additional Principal Secretary Dr. Vikrant Pandey, Principal Secretary of the Energy Department, Secretary to the Chief Minister Dr. Ajay Kumar, and representatives from Rwanda.
On social media platform X, CM Bhupendra Patel shared his enthusiasm about meeting High Commissioner Mukangira during the VGRC in Surat. He stated, “We discussed in detail how to further strengthen bilateral economic cooperation between Gujarat and Rwanda.”
He added, “She appreciated the success of the VGRC and emphasized that Rwanda is a significant partner for India, with trade relations with Gujarat continuously growing. Rwanda imports textiles, spices, and sugar from India, and many Indian businesses there are led by Gujaratis, further enhancing cultural ties.”
The Chief Minister also invited a delegation from Rwanda for deeper engagement and encouraged their participation in the upcoming Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2027.
