Great to have Moeen back: Fleming

Mumbai, March 31 : Chennai Super Kings’ head coach Stephen Fleming said return of England all-rounder Moeen Ali in the team meant a boost for their morale ahead of their second game of the 2022 Indian Premier League. Moeen was not available for the opening game against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) due to visa issues. However, he has arrived in time to be available for the second match. “Yeah, it was a boost. He was great for us last season. Frustrating he wasn’t here for the first game but nice to have him back in the squad. Chris Jordan is slowly recovering from illness. We’ve got a number of niggles like other teams have got. Certainly not a full capacity as far as squad strength is going,” Fleming told CSK TV. Fleming said the team will get to know their rhythm and combinations as the tournament progresses. “Not just the players but the coaching staff as well. We’ve got a number of new players as all the other teams have. So, it takes a little bit of time to get to know the rhythms of your team, the players, and how they can best fit in. Of course, you want to start with a win, but we found it pretty tricky in the conditions. “Would have liked to have bowled in this quite a bit of dew. They’re all factors that we start thinking about and start planning for, but I’m looking forward to the next one,” he said. The Ravindra Jadeja-led side will look to register their first win of the season when they take on new franchise Lucknow Super Giants in their second match on Thursday at the Brabourne Stadium here.
