Gravel laden trailer kills 4 in Udaipur

Udaipur : Four students, all in the age bracket of 17-18 years, were killed in an unfortunate road accident on Wednesday night on the Gogunda-Pindwara highway in Udaipur district, when a gravel laden trailer overturned and hit them. The incident took place under Bekariya police station limits near a petrol pump when the trailer driver lost control on the vehicle and it turned turtle.

According to the police, Dashrath and Prakash Garasiya, resident of Bhutrani Loharcha were going on a motorcycle to their home when the trailer fell on them. The trailer also hit two youths Chhagan and Hoorchand Garasiya of Teja-ka-Waas village, who were walking along the roadside. The youths fell on thorny bushes after the collision and sustained head injuries while the other two were badly caught beneath the gravel load. Sakaram, SHO Bekariya police station rushed to the spot with team and the bodies were pulled out withthe help of a crane.

The incident infuriated the villagers who demanded stringent action to be taken against sand mafia who have been operating uncontrollably in the area. Police is tracing the driver who fled immediately after the accident.

Minor gets killed while trying to escape police

In another unfortunate incident in Udaipur on Friday morning,a teenager riding motorcyle in a bid to escape the traffic police , was crushed under a truck at Savina Sabji mandi area. According to sources, a team of the traffic police was checking and imposing penalties for rules violations at the gate number 2 of the sabji market. A teenager happened to pass by on a motorcycle and the policeman gestured him to stop with his lathi. To escape the rider accelerated the bike and lost control over it. The bike fell on one side of the road and a truck that was speeding from behind crushed the boy. Thevictim’s younger brother was also seated on the back who had a narrow escape.
