Mumbai, July 15: Actor Govinda is making his return to the entertainment industry with the upcoming film “Roopa.” During a recent press conference, he candidly discussed his approach to work.
Govinda revealed that he predicted the rise of South Indian cinema 15 years ago. He stated, “I told a friend long ago that in the next ten years, you will see South Indian cinema making significant strides.” Following his prediction, several South Indian films became hits, including “Wanted” with Prabhu Deva, “Rowdy Rathore” starring Akshay Kumar, and the “Drishyam” franchise featuring Ajay Devgn. These films contributed to the emergence of larger-than-life heroes.
He attributed this success to honesty and quality work. When asked by the media whether changes in film release strategies would lead to opposition or challenges in the industry, Govinda responded, “Where is the market? Will people connect? Will they come? I don’t think that way. I will continue to work with complete honesty and dedication. I will work with such truthfulness that people will ask, is this even possible? Then I will feel like I am Govinda.”
Further inquiries from the media focused on whether he considers production value or renowned directors when choosing films. Govinda reflected on his early career, saying, “When I started, I had no money. At that time, I only looked at money, my parents’ happiness, and my family’s happiness. I never looked beyond that.”
Recalling his mother’s advice, he said, “My mother told me that if you focus on these things, what will the Almighty see? Many people speak languages that I do not understand. I am not familiar with those languages. Some individuals can be dangerous, coming from families like ours, testing their strength.”
