Mumbai, July 15: Bollywood actress Anjana Suklani has portrayed a variety of roles throughout her career. She has shared the screen with prominent stars such as Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, John Abraham, and Ajay Devgn. Currently, she is in the spotlight for her new film, “Main Wapas Aaunga.” In a recent conversation, Anjana discussed her experiences working on the film, collaborating with Imtiaz Ali, changes in the film industry, and her long journey in cinema.
Anjana stated, “For me, ‘Main Wapas Aaunga’ is a very special film because it is associated with Imtiaz Ali. Working with him is a significant achievement. Artists worldwide dream of collaborating with him, and I consider myself fortunate to have this opportunity. The experience of working with the entire team was wonderful, especially with Naseeruddin Shah and Diljit Dosanjh. Working with Naseer sir felt like a live masterclass. One can learn so much about acting just by observing him.”
Regarding her experience working with Vedang Raina and Sharvari, Anjana mentioned, “My storyline is connected to a different timeline, so I didn’t have many scenes with them. However, we did meet during the trailer launch and shooting. Both Vedang and Sharvari are incredibly talented artists. I was quite impressed when I saw their first scene together. They brought new energy to the film.”
Today, the gap between models, actors, and social media influencers is narrowing. Anjana commented on this change, stating, “Things have changed significantly. While models have always transitioned into films and actors into modeling, now people connected to social media are also entering the acting world. If someone has talent and genuinely wants to be an actor, they should get the opportunity. Ultimately, what matters most is whether the artist can impress the audience with their performance.”
On the rising trend of multi-starrer films, Anjana said, “The most important aspect is the film’s success. Whether a film is small or large, and how many artists are involved, what truly matters is whether the audience enjoys it. When a film succeeds, it benefits not just the actors but the entire team, including technicians, lighting crews, spot boys, and everyone involved in production. I urge my audience to watch films in theaters.”
Recalling her experience sharing the screen with Amitabh Bachchan, Anjana said, “It was nothing short of a dream for me. A few years into my career, I got the chance to do an advertisement with Amitabh Bachchan, and later I worked with him in Ram Gopal Varma’s film ‘Department.’ Collaborating with legends like Amitabh Bachchan and Imtiaz Ali is among my greatest achievements.”
Discussing the differences between Hindi and South cinema, Anjana remarked that the storytelling approaches vary. Hindi films are often made with a nationwide audience in mind, while regional cinema is more closely tied to its language and culture. This diversity is India’s greatest beauty, and it is a positive aspect that artists get the opportunity to work in different languages.
