Goa: BJP to stake claim to form govt

Panaji, March 21 : Almost 10 days after the Assembly polls results were announced, the Bharatiya Janata Party in Goa will stake claim to form government on Monday. BJP’s legislature party will meet at 4 pm at its state headquarters here to elect its leader. The meeting will be held in the presence of two central observers — on Minister Narendra Singh Tomar and L Murugan, Goa election incharge Devendra Fadnavis and Goa desk in-charge C T Ravi. “We will approach the Governor and stake claim to form government after the legislature party meeting tomorrow,” BJP Goa t President Sadanand Shet Tanavade said, addressing a press conference in the city on Sunday. Swearing-in of the new government will be held at Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium near the city, he added. BJP has emerged single largest party in the assembly elections held on February 14, winning 20 seats. It has got support of three Independent MLAs. The tenure of the state assembly ended on March 16.
