
New Delhi, February 18: Top leaders from Sweden, Finland, and the United Kingdom have arrived in New Delhi to participate in the AI Impact Summit 2026. This global conference is focusing on the effects, possibilities, and responsible use of artificial intelligence.
Finland’s Prime Minister Petteri Orpo and Sweden’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Energy, Business, and Industry, Ebba Busch, landed in India on Wednesday morning. Meanwhile, UK Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy arrived late Tuesday night. The Ministry of External Affairs welcomed all the leaders.
Upon the arrival of Sweden’s Deputy Prime Minister, the Ministry highlighted that India-Sweden relations exemplify strong cooperation in various sectors, including trade, economy, science, innovation, climate action, and education. In welcoming Finland’s Prime Minister, the Ministry noted that his visit would further strengthen bilateral partnerships in digital technology, artificial intelligence, sustainability, and education. He was received at the airport by Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Jayant Singh.
David Lammy’s visit is seen as a step to reinforce the comprehensive strategic partnership between India and the UK. According to the Ministry, this collaboration will advance reliable, inclusive, and responsible AI as a means for innovation, economic growth, and shared prosperity.
The five-day India AI Impact Summit 2026 is expected to see the arrival of many other global leaders throughout the day. The summit aims to reflect on the transformative potential of AI in alignment with the national spirit of “Sarva Jan Hitaya, Sarva Jan Sukha” and the global principle of “AI for Humanity.”
Over 110 countries, 30 international organizations, nearly 20 heads of state or government-level representatives, and around 45 ministers are participating in this summit. This event marks the fourth edition of the AI Summit series, following previous gatherings in Bletchley Park (UK) in 2023, South Korea in 2024, and France in 2025.
