Geoff Hurst Compares Harry Kane to Legendary Captain Bobby Moore

London, July 15: Sir Geoff Hurst, the hero of England’s 1966 FIFA World Cup final, has hailed Harry Kane as the nation’s greatest striker to date. Hurst praised Kane’s goal-scoring ability, record, and leadership, stating that Kane has surpassed every striker who has worn the national jersey.

Ahead of the second semifinal between England and Argentina in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Hurst remarked, “Kane is England’s best player. His record is phenomenal. In this tournament, he has scored in crucial matches. His leadership is effective and clear. After matches, he communicates with the players. His playing style and demeanor make him an excellent role model.”

Hurst also drew parallels between Kane’s leadership qualities and those of Bobby Moore, who captained England to lift the Jules Rimet Trophy at Wembley six decades ago.

He stated, “In every field of life, whether in business or football, there are individuals whom others naturally see as leaders or captains. In my time, that was clearly Bobby Moore.”

Hurst continued, “Even as a child, he acted in that manner. Players and management viewed him as the ideal choice for captain. I believe Harry Kane embodies that same spirit. He excels both on and off the pitch.”

Kane has now surpassed Bobby Moore as England’s most-capped captain, leading the team in their quest for a second World Cup title since 1966. So far in this World Cup, Kane has scored six goals, and fans are hopeful for a dazzling performance from him in the semifinal. England secured their place in the semifinals by defeating Norway.
