Gautam Gambhirs Wife and Daughters Arrive in Ahmedabad Ahead of T20 World Cup Final

Ahmedabad, March 8: The T20 World Cup 2026 final is set to take place on Sunday at the Narendra Modi Stadium, featuring a match between India and New Zealand. Ahead of this crucial game, Natasha Gambhir, wife of Indian cricket team’s head coach Gautam Gambhir, has arrived in Ahmedabad with their daughters, Ajeen and Anija.

This marks Gautam Gambhir’s first ICC T20 World Cup final as head coach. He aims to join the ranks of former Indian players Rahul Dravid and Lalchand Rajput, who have both won the T20 World Cup title as coaches.

As a player, Gambhir played a pivotal role in securing the T20 World Cup title for India in 2007, scoring 75 runs off 54 balls in the final against Pakistan, which India won by just five runs. Although he is in a different role this time, his goal remains the same: to win the trophy for the country.

Former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has also arrived in the city for the final. A large crowd gathered at the airport to welcome the champion captain. Additionally, many players and celebrities are expected to attend the final.

India has never defeated New Zealand in a T20 World Cup match, but this time, Team India is determined to end that streak with a victory. This will be the third ICC final between India and New Zealand across three different formats in the last six years. The two teams previously faced off in the World Test Championship in 2021 and the Champions Trophy (ODI) in 2025. New Zealand holds a 2-1 record against India in ICC tournament finals, having won the Champions Trophy in 2000 and the World Test Championship final in 2021, before losing to India in last year’s Champions Trophy. This is the fourth time India has reached the T20 World Cup final, having won two out of three finals so far.
