Madhya Pradesh Abolishes Over 900 Obsolete Laws, CM Mohan Yadav Calls It a Timely Decision
Madhya Pradesh has repealed over 900 outdated laws, with CM Mohan Yadav emphasizing the need for legal reform to meet current demands.

Bhopal, October 30 (Daily Kiran) : The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mohan Yadav, announced on Friday that the state government has repealed more than 900 outdated laws, some dating back to 1812 and 1817. This decision aims to modernize the legal framework to better align with contemporary needs.
During an event in Jabalpur, CM Yadav met with Chief Justice Alok Shukla of the Madhya Pradesh High Court. He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for significant reforms aimed at liberating India’s judicial system from colonial-era laws.
“I express my gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for guiding the Indian legal system away from outdated colonial laws, steering it towards meeting current requirements,” Yadav stated.
He pointed out that many laws had lost their relevance over time, making their removal necessary for a legal system that serves the public’s interests effectively. Emphasizing the importance of democratic institutions, Yadav asserted that the judiciary must operate independently while elected governments should fulfill their responsibilities within the constitutional framework.
“Our democracy’s greatest strength lies in the judiciary executing its duties independently, while elected governments adhere to their constitutional obligations,” he added.
Referencing the political situations in Nepal, Bangladesh, and Pakistan, CM Yadav highlighted that India’s democratic values and constitutional framework showcase the robustness of the world’s largest democracy. He acknowledged the crucial role of judges and the country’s judicial tradition in maintaining India’s democratic dignity.
Yadav also congratulated Chief Justice Shukla and described Jabalpur as a city of natural and spiritual significance. He noted the unique beauty of the Narmada River and the marble rocks of Bhedaghat, emphasizing Jabalpur’s special place in Madhya Pradesh’s cultural and spiritual heritage. This announcement was part of CM Mohan Yadav’s visit to Jabalpur, where he also planned to meet with the Chief Justice at Circuit House No. 1 and attend a dinner hosted by the Advocate General’s office at Hotel Shawn Elijay.
