Free Travel for Women on Raksha Bandhan with 100 E-Buses Starting August 27

Noida, August 26: In a significant move for women, the Uttar Pradesh government has announced free travel on state transport buses in celebration of Raksha Bandhan. This initiative will benefit women traveling on 100 electric buses operating in Noida, Greater Noida, and the Yamuna Authority area. Preparations have begun to facilitate women’s journeys during this festive occasion, following government directives.

Currently, the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) operates a total of 100 electric buses in these regions. The government has approved special free travel for women on all transport buses during Raksha Bandhan. This service will be available from 6 AM on August 27 until midnight on August 29.

Notably, women passengers will also be allowed to travel with one companion for free during this period. This decision is expected to provide significant relief to women traveling to their parental homes for the festival. The free travel facility will be applicable to all 100 electric buses in Noida, Greater Noida, and the Yamuna Authority area, offering economic relief to women commuting during Raksha Bandhan. Given the anticipated increase in passenger numbers during the festival, this decision is deemed crucial.

Raksha Bandhan is a major festival celebrating the bond between siblings, with many women visiting their brothers’ homes. The government’s initiative to provide free bus travel will particularly benefit those relying on public transport. Transport officials have stated that special attention will be given to the operation of electric buses during the designated period to ensure passengers face no difficulties.

To ensure the availability of free travel for women, the bus operating system will be adjusted accordingly. The government’s decision aims to provide safe, convenient, and affordable public transport for women during Raksha Bandhan. The expansion of the electric bus service in Noida, Greater Noida, and the Yamuna area is already considered a significant step towards enhancing public transport.
