Former CM Uma Bharti Criticizes Administrations Action Against Poor Vendors in Tikamgarh

Bhopal, April 7: Former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Uma Bharti, has expressed her displeasure regarding the administration’s anti-encroachment drive in Tikamgarh. She stated that this action was possible because there is no BJP MLA or municipal president in Tikamgarh; otherwise, such measures would not have occurred.

Bharti emphasized that the municipality’s anti-encroachment campaign has severely impacted street vendors and small businesses. She described the situation as unjust, arguing that if encroachments need to be addressed, the focus should begin with affluent individuals rather than the poor, who rely on these small enterprises for their livelihoods.

In a post on the social media platform X, Bharti mentioned that if there had been a BJP MLA and municipal president in Tikamgarh, such actions would not have taken place. She lamented that it is unfortunate that the municipality and assembly are not under BJP control; otherwise, this unjust action against the poor would not have happened.

Bharti accused the administration of removing the stalls and shops of impoverished individuals while failing to challenge wealthy people who openly violate encroachment regulations with their homes and restaurants. She asserted that the BJP does not support such actions. According to her, any reforms should first apply to the affluent and last to the poor, which is the BJP’s principle.

Notably, on Monday, the Tikamgarh municipality carried out an anti-encroachment operation in the Civil Lines area, removing several stalls and carts. This action directly affects the daily earnings of small vendors, leading to widespread discontent among them. Upon learning of the operation, Uma Bharti arrived at the scene to protest against it.

In a symbolic gesture of her dissent, Bharti visited a poha stall on Tuesday morning and sold poha to express her opposition.
