Congress Leader Aradhna Mishra Criticizes Governments Democratic Failures in Uttar Pradesh

Aradhna Mishra of the UP Congress questions the governments commitment to democracy amid rising public distrust and electoral concerns.

Lucknow, October 16 (Daily Kiran) : Aradhna Mishra, the President of the Uttar Pradesh Congress, has responded sharply to Defense Minister Rajnath Singh‘s allegations against the opposition. Singh accused them of plotting to change the government, undermining democratic institutions, and leading the youth towards chaos.

In a conversation with reporters, Mishra asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has utterly failed to protect democracy and the Constitution. She pointed to the ongoing protests in Delhi as evidence of the government’s anxiety. “If 13.50 crore names have been removed from the electoral rolls, is that acceptable?” she questioned, referring to allegations against Gyanesh Kumar, which were made by two senior BJP officials. “If the opposition and the public are raising questions, who is responsible for this?” she added.

Mishra criticized the government’s approach, saying that instead of addressing concerns and fostering public trust, they resort to accusations. “First, Gyanesh Kumar must be held accountable. He should resign and apologize to the nation. This struggle is not just for one individual; it’s about preserving our democracy and Constitution,” she stated.

She also expressed her concerns about the credibility of constitutional bodies like the Election Commission. “Who is responsible for appointing Gyanesh Kumar and his two associates? Rahul Gandhi had raised objections regarding this process, yet the government chose to appoint individuals who are now under scrutiny across the country,” Mishra explained.

Mishra further emphasized that when governments face accusations and situations become chaotic, it is often because they stop listening to their citizens and pursue their own agendas. “During British rule, every segment of society, including the youth, women, farmers, and educated individuals, united against the British. This collective effort led to our freedom. Today, there is widespread distrust among the public. If the right to vote is compromised, how can democracy survive?” she asked.

Concluding her remarks, Mishra expressed confidence in the electorate, stating, “In a democracy, the people ultimately decide. The citizens will show their faith in Congress through their votes.”

Regarding the upcoming Uttar Pradesh elections, she noted, “The INDIA alliance is robust. In the 2024 elections, it was the Congress and the INDIA alliance that halted their progress right here in Uttar Pradesh.”
