Former Amnesty International India Chief Aakar Patel files contempt plea against CBI

New Delhi, Apr 8 : Former Amnesty International India Chief Aakar Patel filed a contempt petition against the agency before the court by submitting that he was not allowed to leave the country once again despite the order of the court while the CBI filed revision petition against the order of the order of the court who directed the Investigating Agency to withdraw a Look Out Circular (LOC) issued against Patel. Patel filed a contempt petition before the court against the Investigating Officer of the CBI for non compliance of the order of the court passes on February 07. Pawan Kumar, Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACJM) passed an order on February 07 by directing the Investigating Agency to withdraw the LOC issued against Patel immediately and directed a written apologies to Patel and file a compliance report before the court on April 30, he said. The court further said in it’s order that the applicant Patel had suffered mental harassment also as he was not allowed to undertake his visit on the scheduled time. Counsel for Patel submitted through his petition that Patel was again stopped at night after passing the order of the court and it was informed from the authority that LOC has nit been withdrawn by the CBI. Counsel for Patel requested to court for granting permission to visit the US to take up his foreign assignment and lecture series organised by various versities till May 30. XC SY 1409
