Five Arrested for Robbery of ₹19.5 Lakh on Rani Jhansi Flyover in Delhi

New Delhi, October 5 (Daily Kiran) : A dramatic robbery unfolded on September 30 on the Rani Jhansi Flyover in New Delhi, where two individuals were targeted by armed assailants on motorcycles. The robbers made off with approximately ₹19.5 lakh in cash. Following a swift investigation, Delhi police have arrested five suspects linked to the crime. Authorities recovered ₹9 lakh in cash and an iPhone purchased with the stolen money from the suspects.

According to police reports, the victims were engaged in business activities in Chandni Chowk and were on their way with a substantial cash amount. One of the suspects, who also worked in Chandni Chowk, allegedly surveilled the victims before devising the robbery plan with four accomplices from Ghaziabad.

Initially, the assailants attempted to stop the victims at Kashmiri Gate, where they physically assaulted them in an effort to rob them. However, with the help of bystanders, the victims managed to escape without reporting the incident to the police. Unfortunately, they were later attacked again on Rani Jhansi Flyover, where the robbery was successfully executed.

The operation that led to the arrests was spearheaded by DCP Niharika Bhatt of North Delhi. Following thorough investigation and technical surveillance, the police apprehended the five suspects. Efforts are ongoing to arrest additional accomplices and recover the remaining stolen cash.

In a separate incident, the Special Staff team of Northeast Delhi arrested two criminals during a late-night encounter in Usmanpur Yamuna Khadar. Both suspects sustained gunshot wounds to their legs and were subsequently hospitalized. The suspects, identified as Waseem and Kaif, had previously demanded extortion from a businessman in the Bhajanpura area and had also engaged in aerial firing. They are believed to be affiliated with the Lawrence Bishnoi and Rasheed Keval gangs.
