
Hapur, October 3 (Daily Kiran) : In Hapur, Uttar Pradesh, police have arrested five individuals linked to a robbery involving goods valued at over 55 lakh rupees. The arrests occurred during an encounter where one suspect sustained a gunshot wound to the leg, while the others were taken into custody at the scene.
DSP Rahul Yadav reported that the incident unfolded late last night in the Gadhmukteshwar police jurisdiction. Officers attempted to stop a canter for a routine check, but the driver accelerated instead. A backup team was alerted and successfully intercepted the vehicle further down the road.
According to Yadav, the suspects opened fire on the police in an attempt to escape. In response, officers acted in self-defense, injuring one suspect and apprehending four others. The police recovered two firearms, ammunition, a knife, and the canter filled with stolen clothing.
The criminals have been identified as Javed from Sambhal and Azeem, Pradeep, Aman, and Subhan from Moradabad. DSP Yadav stated that the suspects confessed to the robbery that occurred on September 28.
Five days prior, the gang had stopped the canter on Balwapur-Brijghat Road, taking the driver and helper hostage. After releasing them in the Amroha area, the thieves fled with the vehicle, which contained goods worth approximately 55 lakh rupees.
The injured suspect has been transferred to a hospital for treatment, and further action is underway in this case.
