Finnish President Emphasizes Diplomacy in Talks with Irans President

Kathmandu, April 2: Finnish President Alexander Stubb highlighted the importance of diplomacy amid rising global tensions following significant discussions with Iranian President Masoud Pajeshkian. The talks focused on the current situation in Iran and the Middle East.

Stubb stressed the need to halt attacks on neighboring countries and restore freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. He emphasized the necessity of maintaining dialogue despite existing differences.

In a post on the social media platform X, President Stubb stated, “I spoke with Iranian President Masoud Pajeshkian. We discussed the situation in Iran and the Middle East. There is an urgent need for a ceasefire and a diplomatic solution.”

He reiterated the importance of continuing conversations despite disagreements.

Meanwhile, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres also declared that the time to end the war has come. He warned that the conflict is causing not only severe humanitarian suffering but also economic repercussions felt globally. He urged the United States and Israel to cease hostilities.

Guterres clearly stated, “The time has come to stop this war, as it is affecting millions of lives and has already dealt a blow to the global economy. The energy crisis, trade disruptions, and pressure on supply chains are significant examples exacerbated by this conflict.”

He noted that the current situation has reached a dangerously critical point, with the world on the brink of a broader war. According to him, if a diplomatic solution is not found soon, the conflict could escalate further, impacting global peace and stability.

The UN chief sent a stern message not only to the United States and Israel but also to Iran. He urged Iran to immediately cease attacks on its neighbors, as these actions are escalating regional tensions. He believes that all parties must exercise restraint and return to the path of dialogue.

Given the seriousness of the situation, Guterres has decided to send his special envoy to the Middle East. This move aims to advance peace talks and establish communication among all parties involved.
