Farooq Abdullahs Controversial Remarks Spark Protests in Jammu

Protests erupt in Jammu after Farooq Abdullah claims Pakistan protects Kashmiris, with calls for his arrest and political retirement.

Jammu, October 26 (Daily Kiran) : Protests erupted in Jammu following controversial remarks made by former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah. He stated that “Pakistan is protecting Kashmiris; otherwise, India’s intentions are not good.” This statement has been labeled anti-national, igniting a strong backlash from local groups.

Members of the Bajrang Dal took to the streets, chanting slogans against Abdullah and burning his effigy. They demanded strict action against him, including filing a First Information Report (FIR) and his arrest.

Rakesh Bajrangi, the president of Bajrang Dal, criticized Abdullah for his repeated anti-national statements, suggesting that he makes such comments to remain in the headlines. Bajrangi remarked, “We have already stated that Dr. Farooq Abdullah’s mental balance is disturbed. He should retire from politics and seek treatment.”

Bajrangi emphasized that Abdullah’s remarks demonstrate his anti-national sentiments, asserting that while Abdullah may claim to be a citizen of India, his heart lies with Pakistan. He insisted that no citizen of the country can tolerate such statements, calling on the central government to imprison individuals like Abdullah.

He further questioned the sacrifices made by Abdullah and his family, recalling that during the peak of terrorism in Kashmir, Abdullah and his associates supported separatists. Bajrangi accused them of contributing to the prolonged unrest in the region, stating that when they were in power, they could have improved the situation but instead chose to support separatists and terrorists.

The protests reflect a growing frustration among citizens regarding statements perceived as undermining national integrity.
