Lucknow, August 5: The National President of the Samajwadi Party, Akhilesh Yadav, has sharply criticized the BJP government by sharing a video of farmers standing in long queues for fertilizer in Gonda. He claimed that those farmers currently waiting for fertilizer will form even longer lines to vote against the BJP in the upcoming assembly elections.
Akhilesh accused the government of corruption and mismanagement, stating that the biggest crisis facing the country is the BJP. In a post on the social media platform X, he shared a video showing farmers in Gonda waiting for fertilizer during heavy rains. He noted that these farmers are saying that in the next election, they will line up twice as long to vote against the BJP, ensuring the party is ousted for good. “When the fields smile, the country will smile!” he added.
Earlier, he posted that as long as the “BJP’s corruption drain” continues, nothing will change. He emphasized that the only crisis in the country is the BJP, suggesting that if the party were to leave, everything would improve.
In Gonda district, long queues of farmers at cooperative societies for urea and DAP during the Kharif season have become a hot topic. Despite Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi reviewing the fertilizer distribution system and conducting inspections, many farmers are still waiting for hours at various societies.
Images of women and elderly farmers standing in line for fertilizer amidst the rain have gained significant attention on social media. On Monday and Tuesday, a large number of farmers flocked to Madhavganj and Retwagara cooperative societies to collect urea. Many reported waiting from morning till evening without receiving fertilizer, while some women stood in line for hours during the Sawan festival, even in the rain.
Officials at the cooperative level stated that the available stock is being distributed continuously, but the sudden surge in demand has created pressure. Complaints of disorganization have also arisen due to the absence of some staff involved in the distribution process. Meanwhile, the district administration and agriculture department claim that there is a sufficient stock of fertilizer in the district.
