Fake License Plates Used in Murder of Suvendu Adhikaris Aide: Bengal DGP

Kolkata, May 7: The murder of Chandranath Rath, personal assistant to Suvendu Adhikari, has sent shockwaves across West Bengal following the election results. Preliminary investigations reveal that a vehicle with fake license plates was used in the crime.

Chandranath Rath was shot on Wednesday night and was rushed to Vivasity Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Bengal’s Director General of Police (DGP) Gupta arrived at the hospital around 1:30 AM on Thursday.

He stated, “The vehicle used in the murder had a fake license plate. We have recovered shell casings and some cartridges from the crime scene. A detailed investigation is ongoing, but I cannot disclose more information at this time.”

Meanwhile, police sources reported that witnesses initially believed a four-wheeler had been tailing Rath’s car for an extended period. When they reached the Dohariya turn in Madhyagram, the following vehicle overtook them, blocking their path, and the attackers opened fire.

However, further investigations revealed that Rath’s vehicle had actually been discreetly followed by a motorcycle. According to police sources, when they reached the Dohariya turn, a four-wheeler blocked their way, and the motorcycle rider began firing. Police officials assert that the precision of the attack indicates it was a meticulously planned murder involving professional shooters.

In the meantime, Samik Bhattacharya has alleged that Rath’s murder is a result of a conspiracy orchestrated by TMC leadership. He claimed this plot was devised in response to the heavy defeat in the recent West Bengal Assembly elections.

Bhattacharya stated, “I have been saying from the beginning that maintaining peace and law and order during the interim period between the election results and the formation of the new cabinet is the responsibility of the Election Commission. TMC-backed goons have begun violence in various areas of the state, masquerading as BJP workers. Now, they have attempted to send a message by murdering the opposition leader’s personal assistant. I am not surprised, as this is the culture of the TMC.”
